ISCMV is hiring for 2014 field season

The ISCMV is hiring for 2 summer student positions for the 2014 field season. 

This positions are offered via the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) program. To qualify for these positions, you must meet the requirements of the CSJ program which are:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at start of employment;
  • Have been registered as a full time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the coming academic year;
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act 6 (foreign students are not elligible); and,
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.

Positions are 16 weeks, 40 hours per week. Application deadline is April 7. Only candidates being considered for the positions will be contacted. Submission information is provided in the position descriptions at the links above.

Online feedback opportunity for draft of Regional Invasive Species Strategy for Metro Vancouver

For those that were unable to attend the February 19th Third Stakeholder Session for the development of a Regional Invasive Species Strategy for Metro Vancouver and those in attendance that wanted to provide additional feedback, this is an online opportunity for your feedback. As the process winds down, the writing team is looking for your help in identifying anything that may be of importance missing from the draft. Prior to taking the survey, we ask that you review the following materials.

2) The February 19th Participants Agenda

3) The background presentation on the process behind the development of the strategy, how we got to this point and what is ahead

ISCMV October 2013 Forum

Please join us for our Annual Fall Forum on October 16th at the Shadbolt Center for the Arts in Burnaby. This will be a great day of learning and networking with everyone in the region involved in invasive species management. Agenda highlights include a panel on European Fireants, a talk on climate change and invasion potential and to hear how the herbicide treatments of Spartina (first time herbicides have ever been used in the marine environment in Canada) went this summer.
